The Case of the Wondering Cows- Mooo hoo

New York court allows negligence suits against owners of wandering cows.

The AP (5/3, Virtanen) reports New York's highest court ruled that “owners of wandering cows and the landowners responsible for keeping them fenced can be sued for negligence if the meandering livestock get involved in an accident,” reversing lower courts use of “the usual liability test for injuries by domestic animals…whether the owner or landowner knew of the animal's vicious tendencies.” Instead, the judges held that “the broader standard of common law negligence applies.”
